This tango should not be confused with the better known tango, A La Gran Muñeca, composed by Jesús Ventura.
Gran Muñeca was dedicated to the jockey Domingo Torterolo.

Although originally written with lyrics, a vocal version was never recorded. Nonetheless, we know that this tango is one of many devoted to the Argentine passion of horse racing.

While he was very capable of writing arrangements for an "orquesta típica", Roberto Firpo's style, here with his quartet, is reminiscent of the style of a musical accompaniment to silent films, and indeed Firpo performed that role earlier in his career.
