Description
Brazilian songs often present a contradiction between music and lyric, but probably no tune exemplifies this more than Jobim’s “Triste”. The title is translated as everything from “Sorrowful” to “Gloomy”, and the lyric follows the heart-broken theme. Yet the music, the rhythm, and the arrangement here, by Serge Merlaud, reflect a joy… maybe a joy of remembrance, but joy nonetheless! Features Serge Merlaud on guitar and Kevin Axt on upright bass.
