This CD was released on the Verve label circa 2006 and was a digital version of the original vinyl LP that was released in 1966.
It features all eleven tracks found on the original record....and a mint copy of that will set you back more than US$75 today.
Astrud Gilberto was a Brazilian samba and bossa nova singer and songwriter, whose soft and sexy vocal performance on “The Girl From Ipanema,” the first song she ever recorded, helped make the sway of Brazilian bossa nova a hit sound in the United States in the 1960s.
Born on the 29th of March 1940, in Brazil, Astrud died on the 5th of June 2023, aged 83, in Philadelphia, USA.
Walter Wanderley was a Brazilian organist and pianist, best known for his lounge and bossa nova music and for his instrumental version of the song "Summer Samba" which became a worldwide hit.
He was born on the 12th of May 1932, in Brazil, and died from the accumulated effects of alcoholism on the 4th of September 1986, aged 54, in San Francisco USA.
