Original members of the New York based group were saxophonist Bill Risbrook, guitarist, Richard Thompson, and bass player, Louis Risbrook. Originally called the Davis King House Rockers, then the Madison Street Express, in 1973 they changed their name to the Brooklyn Trucking Express, BT Express for short. They added Terrell Woods on drums and Barbara Joyce Lomas on vocals and scored a huge hit with their debut single, Do It('Til You're Satisfied). The single became a dance club favorite and reached #1 on the Billboard chart, week of 10/19/74. A quick review of the Billboard #1 hits for October of 1974 would be a funk fan's heaven. Stevie Wonder's, You Haven't Done Nothin' was #1 for two weeks starting with the week of 9/28/74 followed by James Brown's, Papa Don't Take No Mess, week of 10/12/74. Then, Do It('Til You're Satsified) the week of 10/19/74, followed by Kool And The Gang's, Higher Plane, week of 10/26/74. That's a solid month of killer bass lines and horn riffs.
